Meanwhile, back from the space race..

Retro-Electro. The Missus came up with it (about 3-4 years ago), because its old stuff and electronics - she didn't know that it was already the name of some kind of electronic disco sub genre. There is at least one other builder out there using the same name, but I don't care if he don't - I'm not expecting market domination any time soon....

Yeah! You're right!
Those braves mens and women that died for the space conquest deserve my respect.
But Mr. Gagarin was the first man in space, I was referring to this fact.

i was working for a band as a guitar tech and they nicknamed me "dazatron" as a geekyspin of my name "darron". down the track they said i should open my own line of guitar pedals and call them "dazatronics" so:

Let's see if memory serves me.

-Flames are done with a Dremel and a (metal) brush.
-Paint is translucent and thus the flames shows through.
-The "etching" is laser engraving.

About right Darron?

Spot on. I reckon it will catch on.

It's powder coated. There are clear and candy colours that came on the market some time ago now. Not many places stock them but you can get the powder yourself off the net.

While we're talking technique, I suppose this is semi-relevant to the topic.

I'm stealing everything you just said, except for the laser engraving thing, that's beyond me.

Thanks for that link. Time for a faux flame maple box with a 59 LP burst finish, some bullsh*t circuit in there to emulate Billy Gibbons and call it "Pearly Gates".

BTW, I call my stuff Rousetech. My buddy suggested it while we were drinking beer at The Molson Amphitheatre while Blue Rodeo played.

Yeah I do a similar effect on my pedals by sanding the surface down with quite course sandpaper before powder coating, it leaves a brushed aluminium effect. Here is an early one I did while trying to get the process correct.
