is my MXR Microamp supposed to hiss?

I've tried both the 741 and a TL071 and it hisses like crazy.  Is this some sort of inherent design flaw, or is something wrong?

Everything hisses.

Full-down, the hiss should be comparable to straight into a guitar amp.

Full-up should be 10 times hissier.

The schematic I found shows a TL061, not a '071, and certainly not a 741.

You know where the DEBUG post is.

I deserved that scolding, LOL!

Thanks Paul, I'll check it out.  Might order an 061 to see what happens.  The schem I went off was from GGG, it used a 741.

The TL061 hisses a little more than the TL071, but saves on battery consumption.  If battery life is a non-issue, then the 71 is preferred.  If it hisses the same with both a 741 and a TL071, then something is wrong with your build.

I don't care '061 or '071; but the schematic I looked-up and found shows a 10Meg bias resistor which is way-high for a '741, and would have shown in debug voltages. As might other wiring errors.
