I'm just cleaning out my computer and I found a folder specifically full of pedal and pedal electronics related photos from a trip to Japan in 2010. Thought I'd share them here. Those cats really eat it up!

3 pictures in and I had to go change my pants and put on a bib before I looked at the rest.  :o

Guess who's going to japan for two and half weeks in June :icon_cool: Gotta keep myself from spending all my moneys to the first shop  :icon_biggrin:

Btw do you happen to remember where those shops were? Tokyo? Akihabara?

MY personal favorites were the "Weed" pedals. Gotta love the time and effort it took to print out the label and slap it over the MXR, Boss, Arion, etc. enclosures  ::)

I didn't even notice the stickers, lol... they are probably modded, though. Looks like a couple are, anyways.

The parts bins would be in akihabara. The pedal stores are a few stops to the east. I will look up the location.
An oxymoron - clean transistor boost.

ah yeah. the parts were in akihabara. the shop at the bottom with all the tube gear was in kyoto. the pedal shops are a bit all over the place mostly in tokyo and osaka. i got to see one of mine in a store (:

yep. definitely very costly! a lot of gear gets bought by distributors in japan at a high price, sold on for a higher price, then bought for a fortune. but you can get some very good boutique JAPANESE gear in stores at very decent prices (:

Now those are the kind of pedals I like to see in stores....I have to go to Japan one day soon...Good places to get some parts, depending on prices I guess...

I was thinking that SAME thing not too long ago  :icon_idea:

They have created a few things to in-a-way "cater" to the DIY community. Pre-powder coated enclosures is one of them!

thanks for taking the time to upload and link all of these . that was a fun five minutes , skimming thru all those excellent pics you took .

i do wonder how much more affordable  DIY would be over there , i mean here i have to order and pay shipping . i bet you can get the parts super cheap in hong kong . it seems like they have a lot of cool electronic stuff there , that is tough to get here .
im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself
