... Anyone tried either of them?

Mike

Getting ready to go start coating right now... probably be tomorrow night before I find out for sure, but I'll see how it goes after some coats and curing.

you can get copper tape at good gardening centers(snails and slugs hate copper), it's adhesive is not conductive so you need to solder it, but it works quite well and is a bit cheaper.

Just a footnote: the copper tape from Stewart MacDonald has conductive adhesive.  :icon_wink:

I actually have both in my arsenal, I have a roll of the non-conductive stuff because I didn't have time to wait for a stewmac order which is a bit more expensive (especially when you add the shipping if that's all you need) but less trouble, I'll use the good stuff until I run out.  It's not often I really have a shielding emergency, but it's not exactly rare either ;D

As long as you got some dilithium crystals left, everything will be OK...  ;D

Lowes carries copper flashing that has an adhesive backing. Current cost for a roll 20'L x 8"W is $38.

Worked great for my franenstrat.

It looks loke I'll be hitting the foil. The mag paint is giving no electrical conductivity at all, just like my previous test. I do (and I'll double check this tonight) get a capacitive coupling from it. On my DMM cap setting, I was getting almost 100p at half inch, and tens of pico at a couple inches. I suspect it might change a bit with curing.

well at this point you COULD always use some fridge magnets to hold some foil down !

but seriously , thanks for the test info . thats awesome man .
im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself

this was with Rustoleum spray magnetic paint, specifically. Definitely works as intended... Magnets stick really good, lol.
I'm not saying I did this correctly, though. I can only assume I've done something wrong at this point, since others are apparently using it with some degree of success. I fail to see, however, how conductive particles separated by a binding agent can make contact, but I gave it a shot (and I'll probably try it again expecting different results, lol).

I got a roll of the aluminum tape from walmart that even has conductive adhesive. works great and was only 6 bucks for like 150ft roll :icon_biggrin:

they sell "magnetic paint" at lowe's etc for about 20 bux a quart...it has a high iron content, so it IS conductive. i picked up some, gonna try it out. it should make shielding boxes a lot easier.
i have the aluminum tape too from there, but it's a bitch to work on.
