Thor has amazed me so far... SuperLead @ +9v. (and RIP James Marshall). I haven't boxed it yet, i just can't get it perfect yet. I've put in "average" fetzer valve revisited fets (hmmm excluding the mu/ssrp section, which maybe i should consider), put a basic 10k/2n2,10k/2n2 passive lowpass before the master vol coz it sounded too harsh for my setup, changed the 1n before the gain control to 1n in series with 1n (500pF) to unfatten my humbuckers, put a 470k resistor in series with the 470pF bright cap to limit the bright switch impact, put in 68k /47k resistors in place of the 100k, 33k in the bass boost thingy in the negative feedback op amp bass boost section to limit the bass boost... and it sounds good. Nice and Marshally.

Then i read something about putting an Omega before it. I didn't have one of those so i tried Peppermill in front. Awesome i thought. But then i had to build Omega and try that. On breadboard, that's what i've got. Omega - Thor.... it adds a new dimension almost. But maybe i liked the Peppermill in front better???

This is a hell of a ramble, but i can explain. i don't have enough boxes and switches to separate them all and simply try stomping on the omega or try stomping on the peppermill to see the difference. It's kinda hard wired, like my obsessive compulsive drinking behavior (just kidding) and i'm now stuck with what i should put in a box... Thor on it's own? Thor with one of the boosts? Both the boosts in a box with a toggle switch followed by Thor?

I dunno

Anyone got any thoughts, experience, tips?

(BTW, the circuits i am referring to, Thor, Omega, Peppermill can be found at http://runoffgroove.com/articles.html)

Box them separately so you can mix and match.

One of the handiest builds I ever did was 5 boosters in a box, each switchable with 2pdt toggles. Inspired by something Soulsonic did a few years back, I think he called it the "Four Banger" or something similar. Simple, obvious but amazingly useful. Just comes up over and over again as "handy".
I will also put my hand up for the Peppermill. I love it. One of the best gritty boosters out there. Should get a lot more love IMHO.
Omega was little meh for me...

Absolutely.

I actually like driving my Thor with a Rat set at just above minimum gain. It seems to improve the picking and volume dynamics for me.
