What are you forumites that build semi/professionally using for your builds?

Buffered bypass and electronic switching.

No mechanical switch can ever be as reliable as an electronic switch in terms of projected number of switching operations. No 3PDT can ever be as reliable, cheap, or easy to replace/repair as a small-signal tactile switch used as an actuator, given equal levels of care in manufacturing.

We tested buffered bypass against hard-switched true bypass in a blind taste test with guys who make their living playing guitar, and they preferred by vote the buffered bypass, so sound is arguably not an issue between the two. We took video of that a posted it on youtube, just because it violates politically correct internet pedal switching postings.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Strange

The added time/cost makes electronic shipping unappealing to me.

?? Electronic stuff takes exactly the same time to ship as mechanical stuff, right??

My phone auto corrects - should be switching. It is cost/time prohibitive.

The only additional "time" needed is in the design process. You would need to design the electronic switching into your product.

As far as cost... I believe the additional passives used for the switching would be FAR LESS than a 3PDT  ;D

Thanks for the hijack, fellas.

What hijack? Was it not you that posed the question?

I didn't ask about electronic switching. I asked what 3PDT people were using after spending alot of time researching it.

Thanks, the thread is yours.

No need to run away.  8)

Perhaps, it is not RG's fault that you did not word the question properly. Perhaps, the way you SHOULD HAVE posed the question is:

"What type of 3PDTs are you forumites that build semi/professionally using for your builds?"

Why are people soooooooo touchy these days??  :D

After spending a few hours researching I didn't need another RG advertismnet. The entire post was about 3PDTs. Next timne I will draw you a picture.

I think everything i ever read from RG has been pretty informative and not self promoting. as far as pro and semi pro builders and 3pdt switches, I think the higher end use more expensive switches and charge accordingly.
I wonder what happens if I .......

Strange

Yeah. My bad. I will stick to reading and refrain from trying to add to the forum.

You're right!

Damn RG for responding to your open-ended, non-specific question about effects switching in the production world WITHOUT even reading your mind first!!!

Happy Mother's Day  ;D

Yeah - the entire post wasn't clear I was asking about 3PDTs. Thanks for this. I see there is little reason for me to post here.

The question R.G. replied to was, for me, far more interesting than the question you supposedly wanted to ask, so, thank's for not mind reading R.G.

I suppose there was (is) another thread that holds the key to this whole thread, because I don't see where the - Oh, now I get it, the OP was edited, that's why this was a strange thread (pun slightly intended).

more research required.

i researched brain surgery for hours, wikipedia is quite good, but my patients keep dying.  if only an experienced brain surgeon could explain to me why my jack hammer approach isn't working - but all i hear is scalpel this, laser that, study this, practise on that. jeez. i'm trying to run a business here and my hammer and chisel approach seems so much cheaper.

Cant we all just get along....... :P
