lead spacing on caps

I am drawing up my first (!) PCB layout...the poly film caps I have are from the Small Bear kit, the little orangish "chicklet" caps.  Does anybody know the lead spacing measurement on those so I can calculate the proper footprint on the PCB?

they should be one hole apart or .1" or about 5mm. are you using eagle? congrats. i will never use strip or vero. what a mess. only PCB FOR ME!!

Actually, I am using Express PCB, and so far so good.

The caps I'm using are Panasonic ECQ .047uF...the leads look to be about 7mm or so apart from each other, maybe a touch less...

My film caps often take 4 breadboard holes, can't tell you the spacing in In. or mm. either.

Datasheets are your friend. Most are findable via Google, such as http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/components/pdf/abd0000ce6.pdf
5mm spacing.

It can be helpful to keep a piece of perf/veroboard around to get quick and dirty measurements of lead spacing. Though if I'm making up a library I'll use the data sheets, and a vernier calliper to measure the actual components.

caps 3 holes, resistors 4. as a general rule for me... usually..

+1 on the digital inch/metric caliper. best $15 bux on ebay i ever spent

The Panasonic ECQ's that I have all have .2" / 5mm spacing. This is for all the values of them I have, from .01 to .47.

Mouser at least and probably most other mail order catalogs tell you the lead spacing for caps in the catalog itself.
