Modifying Volume Pedal Questions

Ive got a 25k ernie ball jr and want to mod it to make it active and isolate the tuner out. 

Should I just put a buffer on the input and one on the output? Ive heard that buffers can mess with your pots sweep. 

The companies that offer VP mods say that they "Isolate the tuner-out", does this just mean that they place a buffer before it or do they use a transformer to isolate the output??
