Confusion about DIP switches

I've seen many builds with DIP switches lately, and I want to try something similar.
My goal is to have an input buffer switchable, in or out, with a dip switch. As I understand it, I could either use a DPDT dip switch or two SPDT dip switches. The normal SPST dip switches are on/off, and not usable for my goal, right? Or have I missed something?

Are these good for my goal? Or anything cheaper around?

The toneprint line of pedals has a single dip switch to select true bypass or buffered, I guess the dip switch is controlling the ACTUAL switch (relay, transistors, etc.) I'm pretty new to all this stuff but that's what makes sense to me, unless there is a simpler way.
