I recently completed a neovibe perf project and used mpsa42 trans instead of 5088's(had 30 of the mpsa's).and ldr's from radio shack.(they are the big ones)..had those already as well...the thing passes a signal but there is a loud thumping sound over the top of the guitar signal..all the voltages are close to what is on the schematic...and I cant find any mistakes(so far)..the guitar signal is clipped not clean...if I put a pedal after the neo it wont pass a signal at all..I am suspecting the transistors are causing this...any Ideas anyone???

well I swapped the trannys on the input section..used a 5088 for q1 and 3904's for q2,3 and that motorboating oscillating distorted noise went away..left mpsa42's in the phase shift as well as the lamp driver and oscillator..using sockets for the trans saved a lot of work..whew. :icon_eek:..ordered 5088's anyway...
