More Bass in the Fuzz Factory?

I got done building my Fuzz Factory a while ago, but like many fuzzes, it lacks good bass unless played with my super resonant Epi' dot.

I used this layout:

If I  raise the value of c4 will that cut more treble like in some other volume circuits? Or do I need to do something else (guessing I'll have to.)

Thanks!

I would first raise C2 instead. Better to check if the circuit has enough low end coming out before pumping more in.
...collectors together and emitter to base? You're such a darling...

ton.

I don't think changing the caps will do much, it pretty much passes all the bass frequencies, it's probably all the additional high freq fuzz distortion is drowning out the bass. You might be better off adding a filter to cut some of the highs.

modded many of these. the bottleneck in the lows is C3. increase it to 2.2 uf and let the fun begin.

better yet, add it in as a 6th knob, a 100k pot that sweeps a 10uf in parallel with c3, ala easyface w input cap blend.

Sixth knob approach is a tried and true approach. Just make sure the electrolytic is going the right way!!
....the staircase had one too many steps

I'd totally add the 6th knob had I done it in a bigger enclosure. Raising c3 sounds great and easy though! Thanks!

Sure 2.2uf is the right value for something non polarized? They're all so huge when it comes to a value like this.

joegagan

i posted a graphic that i found on the internet.
i did not mention non-polarized. there are non-polar electrolytics available.

Well I was just assuming non polar because c3 is originally non-polar. I'll look for an electrolytic then.
Bumping that value up so much won't make it too insanely bassy, right? 0.1 to 2.2 seems like a really big jump to me. Maybe that's just my lack of electronics knowledge speaking.

the 2.2 makes it a whole different pedal in my opinion.

too bassy? no, just fun!

Cool cool, might do it switchable then.

Thanks for the help!
