Heres a nice writeup on that very subject: http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/buy.html
And another thread on this: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=95747.0
The minimum set of resistor to get to be able to hook them up in series/parallel: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=76470.0

If you search around a little online you can buy large sets of resistors prepackaged. For $15 I bought the entire E12 resistor series, with 50 pieces of each value from 10 ohms to 10Megaohms and still haven't used them all up. The same applies to capacitors.

Best investment ever!  I bought mine on eBay.

For caps, I have found Tayda to have the best prices/availability if you're doing a serious stock-up.  I stock the E6 series up to from 10 p to 1u, then "E3" up to 1000u.  E3 as I like to call it is 1, 2.2, and 4.7.  Overkill? Yes!

Hey Ppanousos,

This question comes up alot.  I made a video a while back about how i store my evergrowing collection of components, and in it i mention component sizes i've bought in bulk.

Hope the info helps!
