loose lugs on SPST switch

i just built a footswtich for my old fender amp using 2 carling 110-P spst's. i had a tough time w/ the soldering and had to take 2 or 3 runs at it. In the process, I fear I may have melted something inside the switches -- the lugs now have a bit of wiggle room, left-to-right. They're definitely still in place and not at any risk of coming OUT of the switch body -- but is this looseness an issue?

If it's working properly, expect it not to in the future. I have successfully re-heated a lug to put it back in place and it's been working so far, but I wouldn't use it in an amp.

Thanks for the reply. Was surprised last night, tested out perfectly. It's just a footswitch, not on the amp itself, and I carry a backup, so I won't worry about it too much.

When you say you successfully re-heated a lug and put it back in place -- can you explain that process, in idiot's terms? i'm not experienced at all -- these were the first stomp switches i've ever soldered.

thanks again. what kind of asat do you play? i've been looking at a really nice one w/ bigsby :)

I pretty much just reheated the lug again and applied some pressure to it with the tip of the iron -- which is a bad idea if you like the iron at all. You will prefer to do that with that lug disconnected, 'cause if it's being used there's pressure from the inside. It's actually a better idea always to solder just the row that is disconnected, then flicking the switch and soldering the other one.

I actually don't...  :icon_redface: I just had GAS for a Bluesboy for a very long time, but that was before I found out I can't play Teles and I don't like humbuckers.
