Yes, I know this is an ancient circuit but I just resurrected a build I had put together about a year ago. It didn't work right off the bat and I got p-o'd with it and frustrated with the time I'd put into it and promptly stuck it in a box.  Well, I was cleaning out some stuff in a cabinet and found the box last week.  Dug up the layout I had done in DIYLC (v1) and found my old files for it on my computer with the schematic that Mojotron had done.  I figured I'd give it another shot and lo and behold I managed to get it working.  Turns out I had boned up the first JFET by not having a connection between the drain and the next gate in fact it was also connected (incorrectly) back to the source - that and I had the voltages reversed (+ ground and - rail).  Plus a few other stupid mistakes.   Well, I'm pretty happy with how out it turned out and wanted to say thanks to Mojotron and all the others that helped refine and promote the circuit.  I just left it pretty much stock as it is in the original schematic.

Here's a bad pic of it - I'll get a better one with a real cam (this is from my phone).  I'm also posting a JPG of the DIYLC layout I did for Perf.

I have the DIYLC file if anyone wants it - v1 format.  And I have the original schematic as well.  Not sure if there are any new updated ones out there but if there are please, let me know and I'll check out if there are any differences and if I want to incorporate those mods.

One note - there are lots of different classic rock sounds that you can get with this pedal - I especially like how when you turn down the gain (to minimum) you can get a pretty authentic AC/DC type sound out of it - Rosie, The Jack, Riff-Raff, etc.  I think I'll build a chip amp and use this as the front end.  Might also try and build a second one for a pedal but it would have to be more compact, I have one that's a little more compact but it's still probably too large.    Does anyone have a link to a PCB - might etch one if it's more compact.

could you upload some clips?

Yes, but I'm recording challenged.   :icon_redface:

I've got the latest Audacity installed and will need to get my mic (a cheap SM something or other copy) setup to rec but I may have to go direct - which may be an issue.  I've been considering building a Condor Cab sim because right now I'm using the computer speakers to test it out.

One thing: after messing around with it and trying to adjust the Jfets for max output like Mojotron recommended, it seems like it's really best around 4.5 v but while doing that it's been cutting out sometimes so I have to run down why.  I think the volume pot has some dodgy solder joints because when I mess with that, it tends to cut out on me.

I'll get some clips up if you don't mind that it will be from my crappy computer speakers or direct with no cab sim or EQ just pure pedal sound.  I might try some reverb (Gverb) from Audacity - but that would be post processing not live.  I guess I could do both - direct and crappy computer speakers.   That might be interesting.

Thanks Jim - I'm glad a few people have tried/liked this circuit. The only mods I would make to the circuit is to wire the presence and bass controls to full-on, and just tweak the mid and treble controls. That's where all the flexibility is at, and it lowers the control count by 2.

i would happily make one if one could provide a schematic :)

I've been working on a Bassman emulation on and off now for a while. I used the Plexier and Bass Boy as a base.

You mentioned wiring the bass control on full because the mid and treble have all the flexibility. Do you mean the bass control as no/very little effect? Because my bass control doesn't do much.

Hey Jim
Some clips would be cool. Would you direct record with this? As it does have the 2nd order low pass before the output.
