string sensitivity

I am trying to obtain the same amount of sensitivity that the line 6 insane channel has.

I am currently operating a distortion pedal powered by an TL071 into a 12ax7 cathode follower.

I do have distortion, but it takes a considerable amount of effort to make the guitar sing in the way the line 6 insane channel does.

The line 6 has much more sensitivity. I have plenty of gain in my rig, but it still does not seem to supply the string sensitivity I am looking for.

any tips ?
