What's a good wah that I could make myself? I have a Vox V847a, but it's not really what I want and it's hard to modify because it has surface mount components. I'm looking for one with more bass and that's not as crackly when it's all the way down.

artifus

i haven't built many but i really like this: http://folkurban.com/Site/IdiotWah-728.html

breadboard before building!

isn't it kind of hard to breadboard a wah though?

artifus

is it hard to walk a thousand miles? how about one mile? nice shoes.

You just need 3 hands. :).

I assume you're talking about testing. You could use a test oscillator for the input, but if you want to hear what it sounds like with your guitar, get someone to play while you tweak the pot or vise versa.

Just run three wires from the pot in the wah to the breadboard, wah on the floor, breadboard on the table.
I've done it like this and its the only way of doing it that I can think of.

artifus

if you have a volume pedal (usually 10k ish) just wire that in for testing. cool to have a jack in whether you aim for a pedal wah or otherwise anyway.

2 hands works fine for breadboarding....
