I rebuilt the Amber Boost today. I like it with a simple tone control on it.

I'd been meaning to try the Vulcan and this thread was motivation.

I used 5088s instead of 5089s and it is thick and meaty. Since it's so easy to modify I:
- Removed the first voltage divider btw stage 2 and 3 and used one .01uF coupling cap
- between stage 2 and 3 I ended up with a .068uF coupling followed by 100k/220k divider
- 1uf bypass cap stage 1, and 4.7uF byp cap stage 2
- stage 3 removed byp cap, took output off 1k emitter through a 4.7uF

All this tapered off the lows a little more and brightened her up. I didn't use any 'bright' caps.  And that's where I like it.  Nice that it's so easy to modify! Thanks Joe.
