I have a new respect for those that use 1590a enclosures. Today I got a package from Tayda Electronics and in it was parts and my first 1590a enclosures.
I'm always excited to try something new. But my excitement soon turned to frustration as i shoehorned a Phase 90 into it. I finally got it and it was awesome sense of accomplishment to have fit the p90 into it my first try.

I have one more 1590a. What would yall recommend I build next?  (yes, I said yall) :icon_lol:

Just so ya know, the new stickers Tayda use peel off the bag (not easily) without tearing, stretching the bag, or leaving gunk behind. Spare, unmarked bags are always nice to have around.

BTW, looks nice! From the outside...   :icon_wink:
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

I'll have guts later. I forgot to set the trim pot so I have to dive back in later to set it.

Kudos on fitting a Phase 90 in there!  :icon_mrgreen:

Nice work, but you guys need to check the 1590A thread more often :D

You squeezed it into a 1590A - you insane fool!  :icon_mrgreen:

Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

haveyouseenhim

^^That's where I got the layout. I didn't mean to imply I made the layout or anything. The post there said he never boxed it though. Unless I missed a post where he did.
I even had to trim part of the jacks and change some of the electros to tantalum to lay em down to fit.

Congrats Mike!!  ;)

I attempted that very build a few years ago and sadly could not get a good PCB transfer.

Maybe it is time to revisit this since I am a bit wiser now!  ;D

Thanks for the inpsiration!!

Thanks Greg.
I had to modify the transfer in my paint program because the traces were so thin. And it was still a nightmare to transfer because of the small size. It took about 4 or 5 tries. I could email you the modified version if you like ;)

GUTSSSS
Kind of a bad solder job, but it's because some traces were broken and/or too small

I had to file the lips down to help make it fit

I think I just found the graphic for the phaser

Holy crap. Most of us are happy just to get a P45 into there ... that looks great.

Madbean's got a ton of projects that fit in 1590A, including etches. You might want to look there for inspiration. I really like the Fatpants (Echoplex boost) and Cave Dweller (delay), though the Dweller probably needs to be a PCB to fit.

Somewhere around here Solderman has a "Worlds Smallest Flanger" thread if you're feeling REALLY spicy. I chickened out.

And I've got a perfboard layout for the Shoot the Moon I could share with you. It's a Tremulus Lune with a simplified LFO. Really nice sounding trem. I'm a bit of a 1590A fanatic, so I have a bunch of layouts on my dropbox.

Another fun challenge is a PTP Rangemaster with battery. I know it can be done, but I haven't been able to figure out how ...

If you continue down the 1590A road, there's a few tools that can help the builds go more smoothly and make the boxing a lot easier and more repairable. Madbean has a really nice booklet with links for parts. But in short: Smallbear has enclosed low profile jacks. They give you enough vertical room to put the PCB face side up. Good for builds with trim pots that you need to access more than once. Smallbear also has 9mm pots, which you'll want for builds with more than two controls. (I've gotten three 12mm pots in there, but you have to bend the lugs.) Mouser has small electrolytics, and the Panasonic ones are actually decently priced (about 10c each). Tayda also has monolithic capacitors, which are good for 1uF caps.

Thanks :)   I'm not a big fan of the lune. I prefer the magnavibe sound. That may be what I do with the other 1590a. Do you have any j201 based heavy distortion? I'd like a distortion that has a meaty heavy chug when doing palm muted power chords. I listen and play a lot of crossover speedmetal/punk.

I would love to make David's toejam. I just don't feel like doing the fab work.    ( I can, I just don't want to)

Awesome. I just found it. And I'm in luck with the ICs. About a year ago I was rummaging around in an abandon cabin on an overgrown pecan orchard. And what do i find?? A reverb unit for vocals!!! It didnt work, but it had a mn3102 and a mn3207. I'm hoping that it isn't the chips that are the problem. But I think I just found a use for them. :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:

T-T-T-TRIPLE POST!  :icon_redface:

I just printed the graphic on waterslide paper. I decided against the suicide phaser graphic since I'm going to start selling them. I live in the bible belt and it would be hard to sell it with that graphic.

Nice choice of graphics.  Here is my P45 effort on a similar theme:

But not quite so miniature as yours!  (Very impressed, btw.)
