Hi all! I've done a few builds, a shin ei, bazz fuzz, electra, and a woolly mammoth.. So I decided to try maybe modding a familiar circuit to suit my tastes a little better... Here is what I have so far... Do I have everything hooked up ok?

artifus

a schematic would help. what is the 'familiar circuit'? what is the intended mod?

Standard fuzz face, I've just used the calculator to get the correct resistor values for my higher HFE transistors, and I'm attempting to mod it with a variable input cap.

The 100 pf ceramics are to control high frequency oscillation at max gain.

i think what you need to do is swap the 2.2u with the (.1- tho i think a .01 or even .001 will give more range to the control)
so that the small cap is always in the circuit, as it is now you're just adding .1 to the 2.2uf for more bass, not less...
also the .1(.001?:)) shouldnt be across the 2 legs of the 100kpot it should be...
from one side of the .1(.001) to lug 1 of the pot tie lugs 2-3 together to one side of the 2.2u the other side of 2.2u goes to the other side of .1(.001)

like this...
nothing says forever like a solid block of liquid nails!!!

Bam! got it working! thanks!

Ok, so i have it built, but it's not as high gain as I imagined it would be.. Does this have to do with my mods? or am I expecting a circle to fit in a square hole here?

sounds like it should be a  bit more saturated and have more sustain if the fuzz if all the way up. you can hear it especially  at 2:15 when you play the single notes on the high strings.

did you take voltages?  that resistor calculator is a tool, not the final answer...
always think outside the box
