It's a stupid question  :icon_rolleyes: :icon_redface: , but kills me to know the answer, I want to know if it is equivalent 2SC1815Y to C1815Y and if I can replace a MPSA18 with a C1815Y  some I hear they are better ...  :)
I'm Carlos.

I speak spanish, just in case you do not understand what I say.

It should be. Quite a lot of Japanese transistors leave out the "2S" part - not enough room to print it all.

What Pyro said. They usually leave off the "2S", so it probably is not equivalent, it *is* a 2SC1815Y - if it's not a counterfeit part, but that's a whole other matter.

(1) yes, you can put it into the same position in a circuit as the MPSA18, and it will probably operate.
(2) "Better" needs some additional refinement. The 2SC1815 is a good general purpose device. The MPSA18 is a *great* special-purpose device. The MPSA18 is about the best high-gain, low-noise bipolar amplifier. There may be other Japanese devices I don't know about, but the MPSA18 was specially designed for small signal, low noise audio preamplifiers. Whether the 1815 is better depends on what you're using it for.

If you want to use for an oscillator based on a MPSA18 (not sold in my city) I can replace that MPSA18 for C1815Y (if they sell)

That's a good place to try the replacement. Give it a try!

Did you remember that emitter, base, and collector are on different pins of the MPSA18 and C1815Y device? The MPSA18 has its pins arranged E, B, C and the 1815 has its pins arranged E, C, B.

Don't know. Depends on the circuit.

Try it the right way and see if it works. If it does, great. If it doesn't, you're no worse off.
