Manual backups with iFunbox

There is another easy way to get a manual backup besides the great app imazing. iFunbox is another easy and free app that will do a complete backup of your iPad. Fortunately it’s easy to use and fast.

Connect your iPad and run iFunbox, then choose unrealBook under App File Sharing to access your files.

Simply, connect your iPad to your Mac or PC, then run iFunbox and use the disclosure triangles on the left to access App File Sharing and unrealBook. The right side will show all of your files. Command-a will select all files and command-click will select or deselect single files. Use the Copy To Mac button to copy all the selected files to the Mac. That’s it! Now you have a manual backup of all of your files. (Note: do not copy the inbox when copying the files back to the iPad or another iPad – just skip that folder).

Web Interface – Copy files using a web browser

It is possible to drag and drop files directly onto your computer browser to add files to unrealBook.

To do this you need to enable expert mode.

If you have never used any network functions (auto connect, wifi server/slave) then you may have to go to settings>network and turn on Auto Connect ON temporarily. When you do this, you will be prompted to allow unrealBook to access the network. Choose allow. After that you can turn Auto Connect OFF.

You can look at the setting in the iPad Settings app>Privacy & Security>Local Network. Make sure unrealBook is listed and ON.

Go to Settings->Globals->Functions and turn on expert mode. (Note, as of version 4.2, this is not necessary)

Go to Settings->Globals->Functions and turn on Expert Mode.

Then go to the action menu and choose Open Web Interface (in 4.4.2, choose Copy files using a Web Browser).

A small window will appear giving you an IP address to type into your web browser on your computer. The iPad and computer must be on the same WiFi network.

Type the http:// address shown in the window including the trailing /

Your browser will show a window containing the unrealBook files. You can drag PDF and MP3 into it. It is a listing of the unrealBook Documents folder.
